The 2016 Myanmar Liver Symposium

The Myanmar Liver Symposium 2016 sponsored by the B.K. Kee Foundation in collaboration with the Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports, Stanford University School of Medicine's Center for Innovation in Global Health, the Myanmar Liver Foundation and Community Partners International will be held from October 31 to November 1 in Yangon, Myanmar.

This symposium aims to facilitate the exchange of best practices, treatment protocols and known data of chronic hepatitis B, C and liver cancer between international hepatologists from world renowned medical and research institutions and Myanmar’s leading hepatologists, academic faculty, health policy makers and practitioners. The symposium will also encourage the sharing of information that is relevant to the local context, practical and applicable to local practice and Myanmar’s existing health system infrastructure.

The symposium’s long-term objective is to improve linkage to care for Myanmar patients with viral hepatitis which will eventually lead to better management and elimination of viral hepatitis. This will in turn decrease liver cancer incidence and mortality in Myanmar, which then will lead to overall improved life expectancy for the people of Myanmar.

This year, we are proud to invite several international and Myanmar faculty members who are world-renowned key opinion leaders, to discuss state of the art topics with a special focus on best practices in Southeast Asia that will appeal to both senior clinicians and trainees alike.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we look forward to welcoming you to Yangon and to The Myanmar Liver Symposium 2016.
